About the Wedding

From the Bride

“I wanted the wedding to be a mix between a backyard cozy garden party and a barn dance. We chose Saskatoon Farm to be the setting for our ceremony in the greenhouse, and had our friends play ‘a thousand years by Christina Perri on cello and violin as I walked down the aisle. We served Saskatoon Berry pie and ice cream afterwards to encourage everyone to mingle and visit, and then headed off to Crystal Ridge Golf Course in Okotoks. We gathered under a big white tent with garden lights, barn wood accents, and gorgeous florals sitting in the wooden boxes my dad made from scratch. For food, we had our friends from the ‘Farm Girls food truck’ serve us decadent chocolate mousse and vanilla bean cheesecake jam jars, with a midnight buffet of bacon and berry jam grilled cheese and mushroom misto gravy poutine. We closed the night off under the twinkly lights with a live slow acoustic version of ‘Home’ by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and took our wedding party out to the green space and lit sparklers under the stars.”

About the Wedding

From the Photographer, Kingdom Come Photography

“From our first phone conversation Maja and Barry were very clear about what they wanted: organic and natural photos. I believe the word ‘bohemian’ was mentioned a few times. In years past, most of my clients have contacted me after seeing the more poised images I do, however, I’ve since moved to a more organic shooting style and was glad for the opportunity to shoot an entire elopement with a more naturalistic approach. We met at the Rockies Heli base in Kananaskis, and after getting the paperwork out of the way, walked into the neighboring field to shoot for a few moments before our chariot arrived. From there, the whole elopement progressed naturally. The stunning views from altitudes you just can’t get without a good hike or helicopter were always in the background. They said personal vows in a ceremony so intimate, the pilot and myself were the legal witnesses who signed the dotted line. They popped Italian Champagne and toasted their new life together before flying back. With the sun turning golden, we shot for twenty more minutes outside the base before saying ‘adieu’. It was an adventurous way to get married which I tried to capture in the most natural way possible.”
